This article is about a family living on a lighthouse called Bean Rock. Hugh Brown, the lighthouse keeper  had been staying there for nineteen years.

The characters in the article are Hugh Brown, James Anderson, Ivan and Halley.

I liked this article because it tells us about what life was like for lighthouse keepers in those days when there was not any technology. I have learnt how life can be like without many people staying around you.

Winter Rap by Taki

Winter Rap

WINTER  RAP
In winter I had a pig for dinner
Dad wanted chicken but I was the winner.

The winter clouds are in the sky
Coming down to the ground to lie.

Great white clouds are in the sky
The sun is shining up so high.

On the ground I saw a pig pound
It was big and fat and round.

In winter I went in a train
So I could go and catch my plane.

Next to the plane I saw a snake
I got scared and fell over a rake.

In winter I went to my rugby game
I hurt my leg so I was lame.

In winter it is so very cold
People look like they turned old.

In winter when it is cold and wet
I like to go home to a hot chocolate.

Trip to the Stardome by Fusi

On Thursday, the 9th of May, Room 9 went to the Stardome in Greenlane. We went to the Stardome to look at the Observatory and to learn about space travel. We went by a bus to the Stardome with Rooms 5 and 8.

When Room 9 got inside the Stardome, we lined up in our groups. When the Educator came out of his room, he invited us inside the Observatory.

When we got inside the Observatory, the Educator told us to sit on the chairs. The chairs that we were sitting on were kind of a lying down chairs. While we were lying down on our chairs, the lights went of and the Educator said that we were going to watch a movie. We  watched a space movie. It felt like as if we were in space too. It was so awesome in there.

When the movie was over, we went the planet room. The Educator talked to us about the Sun, Moon and the Earth. He also answered all the questions we had about the Sun, Moon and the Earth.

After that, it was time for us to come back to school. We got onto the bus and came back to school.
