Hello, Joy Cowley, Levi R

Hello, Joy Cowley By Sarah Reid

I like this story because it shows me the troubles one can go through when one procrastinates and doesn’t do their homework.  Most of the time I do procrastinate  and I save it for the last day. It doesn’t feel good when I rush to finish my homework and my writing is messy and I break my pencil and I have to find my sharpener.

I learnt that I can almost fail because I procrastinate and I could  have done more than before. I like this story because it teaches me about procrastination and what I could do to prevent the troubles.

Making Bread, Explanation Writing, Levi R

Making Bread

           Making Bread

Walt: write an explanation on making bread

Success Criteria: My writing will have
  1. A title
  2. An identifying statement
  3. Explanation written in sequence
  4. A summary statement
  5. Nouns, present tense verbs and time and sequence words

Making Bread

Bread is made from different ingredients. These ingredients are sugar, milk, butter, olive oil, rapid yeast, salt ,flour and milk.
First, combine the flour, yeast and sugar in a large bowl. Then stir in salt and then make a well in the centre and put warm milk and butter.

Then, stir the mixture until made into dough.

Next, use your hands to bring the dough together in the bowl. Soon after that turn the dough onto a light surface and knead it until the dough is smooth and elastic.

After that, brush a large bowl with olive oil to grease. Then place the dough into the bowl and cover it with a damp tea towel and set it aside in a warm, draught-free place to settle for 45 minutes - 1 hour or until the dough has double sized.

Then, knead the centre of the dough with your fist. After that turn the dough onto a lightly floured place and then knead for two minutes or until the dough is elastic and has turned to it’s original size. Once it has turned to its original size, it is ready to bake.

Next, put the dough into a loaf pan and place it into a preheated 200 °C oven for about 35 minutes. When the bread is fully baked , it will sound “hollow” when it is  tapped with the finger. It will easily fall out of the loaf pan. It is now time to set the loaf of bread aside to cool down.

The yummy loaf of bread is now ready to share with your family.

Acrostic Poem, Levi R

Taste Buds

WALT: Create acrostic poems

The taste on your tongue when you eat something yum
Always helping you with the joy of the day just keep on eating no matter what they say
Sweet heat makes you blush all day long no matter what!
Tasting everything in your sight don’t eat too much or you might have doubts
Eating healthy every day of the year don’t eat your sprouts or you might have your doubts

Biting your food will help you taste come on and bite again
Uses a lot of saliva to taste
Drives you crazy when you eat something sour
Sour power makes you crazy eat something sweet when you've gone too crazy

Article Review

WALT:  review the story we read

A Passion For Ponies by Donna Cherry.

This article is about a girl named Chelsea who loved her pony named Teddy. After school Chelsea ran home quickly so she could groom and play with Teddy. Chelsea had a friend named Sarah and she had a pony too. They would play together a lot and groom their ponies together.

Sarah also helped Chelsea groom her pony. Chelsea and Sarah also cleaned up their ponies droppings which looked like small mountains. Sarah loved her pony as much as Chelsea loved Teddy. At the end of the day Chelsea put a warm coat on Teddy so he could be warm and toasty.

If I had a pony I would do the same things that Chelsea and Sarah did I would be as dedicated as they were. I liked the bit about the droppings. It was really funny .

As Smooth as Silk by Paul Mason

This story is about a girl named Rachel who finds an octopus while snorkelling. She rushes back to the beach to tell her parents about the octopus but her parents weren’t the only ones listening. A fisherman who was repairing a fishing net with a group of fishermen grabs his spear and s towards the spot where Rachel had seen the octopus.

The characters in this story are Rachel, the local fishermen and Rachel’s parents. This story takes place at the beach. This story had a had a very sad ending because the fisherman killed the octopus and Rachel was very much horrified by this event.

Water Fun Day by Levi R

On Monday, the 18th of February, all students at Glenbrae school had a Water Fun Day on the school courts.

First, we all changed into our house colours and assembled in our areas. Then we paraded to the school courts.

After Ms. Ripata spoke to us about the activities, we went to our activity places. We took part in the water slide activity, the sponge race and the three-legged race.

When everyone had done all the activities, all the houses went down to the courts. Then Mrs Moopanar called out the results and the Green House won.

We all felt that it was so much fun having the Water Fun Day on a sunny day.
